Dearest Sub/Merge Community,
After three and a quarter years of offering up queer parties for social justice, we write to you with the bittersweet news that this era of Sub/Merge is coming to an end. We are closing out the summer with a last party on August 27th.
Because of you, we have been able to donate over $11,000 to organizations near and far that are working to make our communities more safe and equitable for young people, queers, people of color, immigrants & refugees, workers of all kinds, and folks from a myriad of other marginalized communities. That is something worth dancing about.
If you feel at all sad about the end of this party, we hope you will consider keeping the spirit of this community alive by becoming a monthly sustainer of one or both of these organizations that are close to our hearts: BreakOUT in New Orleans, and Portland Outright here in our home city. Both of these organizations are youth-led sanctuaries at the front lines of the struggle to build a safer world for all of us, and especially for LGBTQ+ youth living at the margins. We humbly suggest a $3-$5 dollar monthly donation, sliding scale.
This party has blossomed from a small idea hatched over rounds at Rosie's, and for all of us organizers has caused us to fall in love with you and this city over and over. We look forward to attending the parties you organize. And to being in bed by a reasonable hour like the lil ol queers we have become.
With fierce love and gratitude,
The Sub/Merge organizers,
PS. We have some surprises in store for August! Tell your people.

SUB/MERGE is a party about building and celebrating queer community. One of the amazing legacies of queerness is a commitment to creating a world that's better for all of us. That's why SUB/MERGE is dedicated to using your hot & sweaty dollars to support organizations like BreakOUT , the Southern Maine Workers' Center and Portland Outright.
We stand in solidarity with people across Maine and beyond who are working to build communities that are safe and equitable for young people, queers, people of color, immigrants & refugees, workers of all kinds, and folks from a myriad of other marginalized communities. Shakin' it for justice: I mean, does it really get better than that?
So, let's start building that world together on every last Saturday of the month. Respect each other on and off the dance floor (consent is hella sexy), help make sure we all get home safe, and visit our Facebook page for updates!
